The Gift of and Eagle Feather

I was on a 3 day retreat with 2 friends on Saturna Island.  All three of us had gone with the intention of receiving a deep healing from eachother and from the land.  There were many Eagles and Hummingbirds that came to welcome us.

On the second day, we went on an adventure to the forest on top of the cliffs on the other side of the inlet we were staying in.  We spent some time in a meadow, passing a beautiful Deer sitting under a treee.  She let us pass by, without being afraid or running away.

I wanted to meditate in a meadow and just before entering the forest, 2 Eagles flew over us, very close to the ground.  One of them doubled back and flew over again and I asked if I might have an Eagle Feather.  I did not know why I had been asking (twice before), but I felt it was something special that I was somehow supposed to have.

The forest was beautiful and I noticed the sun shining through the trees making up this big circle.  As soon as I noticed the circle, I was guided that if I walked the circle, I would find my feather.  So, I followed my instructions and left the path to walk the circle of sunshine amongst the tree's.  I had just about finished walking the circle and suddenly I needed to go...  I stepped back on the path and walked back to my friends to tell them we had to go and they suggested I just take advantage of the forest cover for my suddenly urgent business.

I walked back close to where I had left the circle and started walking off the path to take care of business.  As I was nearing the place of choice,  I looked down to my left and there, placed ever so gently at the base of the tree, upside down was a beautiful Eagle Feather.

The next morning I received a profound teaching and healing from my beautiful feather... You see, for some reason I thought the feather was broken and dirty and I was actually looking for a "better one" on the rest of our forest walk.  The next morning when meditating with the feather, I realized that it was not the feather that was broken and dirty, but in fact that is what I had thought about myself so deep down in the depths of my being...

With that understanding, I realized why I had been gifted with an Eagle Feather.  It was a gift from God  for the perseverence and courage that I had shown on my journey and a gift from Eagle to let me know that he was truly with me...

I share the story of my gift in the hopes that you too may find the courage and tenacity that may be required of you, on your journey and to know that you do not walk the journey alone... even if it may feel that way at times... We are always supported and encouraged by Spirit... we need only to notice.

Love and Light,
Pamela
